Nate S. Shaw - Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Nate Shaw

Dr. Nate Shaw was born and raised in Union County, North Carolina, where he graduated from Weddington High School in 2002. A lifetime fan of the Tar Heels, he followed in his parents' footsteps and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with distinction in 2006 and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.

He continued his education in Chapel Hill at the UNC School of Dentistry, where he was in the top five percent of his dental class and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honors.

Dr. Nate continued his pursuit to become a pediatric dentist by attending the Medical University of South Carolina for additional specialty training. While in Charleston, he served as chief resident and received his Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from MUSC. Charleston holds a special place in Dr. Nate's heart because that's also where he met and married his wife Kate, who was there working as a professional ballerina.

Dr. Nate is a board certified pediatric dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry defines a Diplomate as a pediatric dentist whose credentials have been verified, who has successfully completed voluntary examinations, who demonstrates specialized knowledge and skill, and is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care through a voluntary commitment to lifelong learning. Dr. Nate is also currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the North Carolina Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Nate has a passion for mission work and has used dentistry to serve others in Ecuador, Kenya, and at dental clinics around his home state with the North Carolina Missions of Mercy free mobile dental program. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys both playing and watching sports (he even thinks he can surf after living near the beach during his residency) and is looking forward to starting his own family.
